Peak 3,321 (10,896) / Two Teats (11,387) / San Jaoquin Mountain (11,600) - 09/04/09
My 50th birthday and end of my "50 for 50... and dim sum" journey - 50 peaks during my 50th year. I claimed peak #50 (MtW via the MR) eight weeks ahead of schedule. Rather than toss out certain peaks for one reason or another, I renamed my peak quest and kept counting. For the big day, I chose an easy stroll along San Jaoquin Ridge, overlooking the Ansel Adams Wilderness and one of the grandest skylines the sierra has to offer. Spent the night on the ridge, watched the sun set between Mt. Ritter and Banner Peak and the full moon rise and dance across the sky. I awoke early to catch the moon set alongside the Minarets and the sun rise over the Whites. A perfect locale to celebrate my successful year-long journey and my 50th BD.

Drove up in the late afternoon to pick my spot. Opted for the wide open ridge with clear views E and W, despite better wind protection at the very end of the road. Now I wait for sunset.
